Design activities in the Vibroacoustic field
Our primary objective is to elevate onboard comfort while adhering to the stringent regulatory standards set forth by international maritime bodies, or to the specific requirements outlined by Shipyards and Owners. Recognizing the critical impact that noise and vibration can have on both the structural integrity of a vessel and the well-being of its occupants, we proactively address these issues right from the initial stages of design and concept.
To achieve this, we leverage state-of-the-art analytical tools and adhere to the most advanced engineering practices in the field. Our comprehensive suite of services encompasses detailed analysis, predictive modeling, and innovative design solutions, all tailored to mitigate noise and vibration at their source. By integrating these strategies early in the design process, we will ensure compliance with the contractual requirements and also set new benchmarks for acoustic and vibrational performance in maritime vessels.
Optimizing the design of a vessel for peak acoustic and vibrational performance necessitates a delicate balance between performance enhancement and the pragmatic constraints of weight and cost. We recognize that every design modification, aimed at mitigating noise and vibration, has implications for the vessel's overall displacement and budget. Therefore, our engineering solutions are crafted with a keen eye on minimizing weight additions while also being cost-effective. Through the adept use of advanced materials and smart design strategies, we strive to achieve substantial noise and vibration reduction without imposing unnecessary weight burdens or excessive costs.
ACOUSTIC AND VIBRATION DESIGN
- Noise and Vibrations Level Prediction, through analytics software (also Computer Codes developed by Tecnav) and parametric data sourced from hundreds of our projects later tested onboard and catalogued in specific databases combined with detailed ship characteristics (propulsion arrangement, main characteristics, main machinery and relevant installation, scantling plans, vibroacoustic treatments, operational states, etc.)
- Technical Specifications drawing up, upon the basis of the predictions made, and of the owner/yard requirement.
- Soundproofing details and plans definition, divided by type of treatment (Damping, Insulation, Ceiling-Floor-Panelling-Internal Partitions plans and booklets)
- FEM Analysis, Modal Analysis and Frequency-Response Analysis
- Soundproofing Treatments Weight and COG Calculations, divided by: type of treatment - deck - area - surfaces of application (bulwark -bulkhead - ceiling - floor)
- Soundproofing Treatments Bill of Materials
- System Optimization (review, comments, proposal of eventual alternatives) regarding:
a) the main machinery resilient mounts proposed by the machinery Suppliers
b) their relevant foundations
b) the layout of the systems critical from a vibroacoustic point of view (E.R. ventilation/extraction, MMEE and DDGG exhaust gas systems, thrusters/stabilyzers oleodynamics system, etc.)
c) propulsion system layout
d) the pillars arrangement and relevant installation details
e) the scantling plans
